"Oil Rigged"

Films: Sector 7 (2011)

Alias: None

Type: Mutant

Location: Ocean/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: Up to that of a truck.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: It's bad enough that what we dredge up from the depths often turns out to be a monstrous killing machine in movies. But imagine for a moment that the creatures below aren't so big at all. Still dangerous in a way, but nonetheless worthy of study. All one needs is a nudge to become a true nightmare of the ocean...

History: Somewhere off the coast of Jeju island, the Sector 7 oil rig has come across a curious find. Many tiny deep-sea lifeforms swim in the darkness, and a few have been brought to the rig for further study. Unfortunately, experimentation and overexposure to the surface turns out to be the worst idea conceivable. For they manage to turn into a colossal super predator that simply cannot be stopped. Sector 7 is about to become a giant tomb for the hapless folk there...

Notable Kills: Chomps a guy while on fire and falling towards the ocean.

Final Fate: After getting set on fire, the monster is severely weakened, but still active. It takes getting an oil drill dropped on it and activated to tear its insides to shreds and finally bring it down. Of course, the entirety of Sector 7 goes up in flames soon afterward, just to make sure no other mutants arise.

Powers/Abilities: A near-impenetrable hide, a healing factor, and a spear-tongue.

Weakness: Heavy artillery, but mostly fire, which stunts its healing.

Scariness Factor: 4-Okay, so the CGI isn't the greatest and perhaps it's only a bit superior to Syfy stuff in terms of quality. But that hardly matters. The beast seen here is an absolute abomination that looks like a walking mass of flesh and teeth. It's agile, fast, and above all, cannot be killed very easily. Should you see it barreling towards you, we suggest you either start running or pray something else gets its attention.

Trivia: -This film took over three years to get done.

-If you're wondering just how much of this film was done with CGI, it was 1,748 cuts out of the 1,800 in it. That's about 80% of the entire film.

It takes just one awful night...

"BLECH! Too much oil!"
Here? We set up the pool party!

Alone we stand. Alone we lose our minds.
Wait, is he a tentacle beast too?

Burning Man festival goes too far.
He wanted a woman, he got a shell containing one.
